BIOSCI EMBO ACADEMY
BIOSCI EMBO ACADEMY is a knowledge & mentoring platform for EMBO applicants & EMBO holders in Life Sciences. Our long-term goal is to strengthen support of promising researchers to apply for EMBO grants & fellowships and to increase the number of EMBO holders working in České Budějovice. The research campus in České Budějovice is a centre of excellence with a strong tradition in biosciences focused on complex ecological, evolutionary & developmental aspects of LIFE. The research campus hosts three EMBO holders (Krejčí Alena, Mozgová Iva, Panicucci Zíková Alena).

EMBO Grants & Fellowships
1) EMBO Installation Grants (EMBO IG) support early-career scientists in life sciences to establish their independent laboratories in one of six participating EMBC Member States (Czech Republic, Estonia, Montenegro, Poland, Portugal, Turkey).
Who can apply? Junior researchers from anywhere in the world negotiating a full-time position at an institute or university in one of five specific EMBC Member States. Applicant has received his/her PhD less than 9 years prior to application.
Why to apply? It is a prestigious opportunity to establish own independent research laboratory in life sciences. You can get financial support up to 50 000 EUR per year for 3–5 years (in total 150 000–250 000 EUR). You become eligible for most benefits of the Young Investigator Programme. You can network and cooperate with other EMBO Installation Grantees.
2) EMBO Young Investigator Programme (EMBO YIP) identifies and supports some of the best young researchers in life sciences. EMBO Young Investigators (YIs) are group leaders in early stages of setting up an independent laboratory in EMBC Member or Associate Member States.
Who can apply? Junior researchers who are independent group leaders (1-4 years of own lab) in life sciences.

3) EMBO Global Investigator Network (EMBO GIN) supports junior group leaders in the early stages of setting up their independent laboratories in Chile, India, Singapore or Taiwan for a period of four years. It provides funding for networking, collaboration and training activities.
Who can apply? Junior researchers who are independent group leaders (1-6 years of own lab) in life sciences.
4) EMBO Postdoctoral Fellowships (EMBO Postdoc) are awarded for a period of up to two years and support postdoctoral research visits to laboratories throughout Europe and the world. International exchange is a key feature in the application process.
Who can apply? Postdocs up to two years science finishing their PhD.
Why to apply? It is a prestigious opportunity to get an excellent foreign postdoc to your research laboratory and to make your laboratory more visible. It is a prestigious opportunity to have a postdoc position in an excellent foreign research laboratory in life sciences. Fellowships may cover salary and other benefits for a period of up to 24 months. Fellows can participate for free in EMBO Laboratory Management Courses and in EMBO Fellows´ Network.
5) EMBO Scientific Exchange Grants (EMBO SEG) fund research exchanges of 7-90 days between laboratories in eligible countries. The aim is to facilitate valuable collaborations with research groups applying techniques that are unavailable in the applicant's laboratory. Grants are intended for joint research work rather than consultations.
Who can apply? Active researchers at any career stage with at least one year of PhD: group leaders, senior researchers, junior researchers, postdocs, PhD students.
Why to apply? You can get financial support (travel costs & daily subsistence rates) for your short (7–90 days) research visit of excellent research laboratory in life sciences in eligible countries. You can develop your international cooperation and research network. Programme benefits.
6) EMBO New Venture Fellowships (EMBO NVF) help young scientists explore topics outside their current area to allow them to pursue a new research direction in their future work. Fellowships fund research visits of one week up to three months (7-90 days) between laboratories.
Who can apply? Young scientists (PhD students, postdocs, junior group leaders)
7) EMBO Core Facility Fellowships (EMBO CFF) support training for staff of core facilities that provide services to research institutions or universities. The fellowships fund international exchanges of up to one month.
Who can apply? Staff of core facilities
